our first farmers market (and we sold out).
short answer: we did our first-ever farmers market at the richfield farmers market, and we sold out. all of it. the swole rolls, the cinnie minnies, the macro chip cookies, gone. here's how the day went, and where you can find us next.
we've been baking and cooking for a while now, but everything up to this point happened online and out of our own kitchen. saturday was the first time we packed it all into a car, set up a table on a patch of grass, and handed our food to strangers in person. we are tandoco, a minneapolis-based protein bakery and meal company, and as far as we can tell we're the first protein bakery in the twin cities. so this one meant a lot.
what we brought
we kept it to the three things people ask for the most. swole rolls (our high-protein cinnamon roll), cinnie minnies (the bite-sized version of the same roll, which is dangerous because you can eat six of them before you notice), and macro chip cookies (a chocolate chip cookie that actually fits your macros). we also put out a tray of free samples, because the fastest way to explain "protein bakery" is to just let someone taste it.
that sample tray did most of the talking. people would walk past, double back, try one, and then ask the question we love most: "wait, how is this high protein?" that's the whole pitch in one bite.
and then we sold out
we honestly didn't know what to expect for a first market. by the end of it the table was empty. the swole rolls went first, the cinnie minnies kept disappearing in little handfuls, and the macro chip cookies cleaned us out before we were ready to pack up. selling out on day one is the kind of problem you hope for and still can't quite believe when it happens.
the best part wasn't the numbers, though. it was watching people light up over food that's genuinely good for them. that's the entire reason we started this.
what's next
this is just the start. we're expanding into a commercial kitchen so we can take our high-protein meals beyond the markets and deliver them across the twin cities, on top of the bakery. more markets, more menu, and a lot more food.
if you missed us this time, the easiest way to get the swole rolls, cinnie minnies, and macro chip cookies is to order the bakery online for delivery. and keep an eye out, because we'll be back at the richfield farmers market and a few others around the metro this summer.
